3 August 2007 - Is the world's favourite search engine about to make that long rumoured push into the phone market?
The Wall Street Journal thinks so and has published reports that Google has been touting a prototype of its phone product, nicknamed the gPhone, in the States.

Whatever next
iPhone watch out!
This would be the time to get into Google stock. I bet it is heading for the sky right now. I was looking closely at all of the features and it almost seems to be identical to the Iphone with features.....
I would be interested to know how much Google would market this phone for. When you consider the Iphone is around $500.00, Google would be smart to sell theirs a lot cheaper.
I agree with Shadow... Google is pretty smart and I bet that they are going to sell it cheaper than the iPhone just because Google knows that many people like me wouldn't buy an iPhone because it is pretty expensive.
In fact I didn't know the gPhone existed but I think I should make a cool phone and call it the hPhone...
It might be closer than we think!

Google, the nearly $13.5 billion search engine major, is believed to be a fortnight away from the worldwide launch of its much-awaited Google Phone(Gphone) and has started talks with service providers in India for an exclusive launch on one of their networks.
Talks are believed to be taking place with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, respectively India’s first- and third-largest mobile telephony operators, and state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam.
