I have heard lots of problems with this new operating system. I was at Circuit City trying to pick out a new laptop and the guy says they have fixed most of the bugs. Is this true?
I just recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista on it and have not had any issues to this point. I am still getting used to the layout, but no bugs. I am not sure I like it better and what advantages it has, but it will do. Has anyone else gotten used to it and like it?
I think that more problems lie with those who upgrade their current system than those who have it installed on a new computer. That's the impression I get from reading many tech type forum posts.
I think Vista is excellent, but VERY VERY different than other versions of windows. I think the majority of people have issues with it because they don't read the book or try to get help for using it. There is a lot more functionality to it, it is a lot more stable, and if you get a virus I would be pretty surprised. I am constantly doing virus scans and I still haven't had one since I got it in January. I think Microsoft has done a whole lot in order to make the operating system a lot more stable and usable than it ever was. The only version I would say that I liked better was Windows 3.1
I personally don't like Vista, cause on every machine, I've tried it on, it's been horrible slow. But, if everything works for you, I see no reason not to get it.
The other problem I found with Vista was even with a bunch of services turned off, I was still using 50%+ Ram while idle. There is something very unsettling about that.
Thanks ndunn for your contribution and welcome to techforums

Well One Of My Friend Bought A New Laptop With Vista. Untill Now He Has No Problems With It. And I'm Planing To Upgrade My PC To Vista Too. Its Just Difficult To use For Few Days. But After That You Will Have A Smooth Ride I guess.
No, it's not true . I have been using Vista opaerating system dince hte day it has been launched into the market. I have never faced any kind of problems with Vista.
Look, I've been dealing with Vista since codename "LongHorn" was out. I've used Vista at every spectrum of end-user functionality, from just simple browsing to gaming and hard-core multi-tasking. Most of my tools, I can't use in Vista. The tools are network monitoring tools. Also, most of my RAM goes towards running Vista at a comfortable speed and so does my Dual Core 2 CPU. My Girlfriend's laptop came with Vista Business and I had to harass HP for an extra gig of RAM to even run more then 2 applications at the same time.
Conclusion, Vista is bulky, flashy, shiny, over-sung, and not worth converting to. I'd take Windows XP SP3 and use that extra RAM to play games or rum 4 more applications.
FYI, Vista's Hibernate is complete trash.
