Hello all. My name's Amanda. I am seeking help in regards to Windows XP.
My step-mom gave me her old laptop about 6 months ago. It worked wonderfully up until about 2 days ago. At first, the monitor on the laptop wouldn't even turn on. Eventually I waited and it did turn on. Windows started up and none of my taskbar icons loaded. I had to manually go into my Network Connections and enable my wireless connection.
Eventually, my anti-virus loaded, my sound, etc. Before this happened, I could watch videos (i.e. Youtube.com) with no problem with the videos lagging whatsoever. Now all of a sudden, videos are lagging, audio is lagging, my CPU usage is 100% all the time.
I ran my virus Scan (McAfee). It scanned over 57,000 files and couldn't find a virus of any kind. I ask my friend for help and he suggested downloading Malwarebytes and scanning. So, I did that, and it scanned 98,000 files and found 1 infected file. Sure enough I thought that was the problem. I deleted the infected file and I restarted my computer. There was no luck, it's still doing the same thing.
Any help would be wonderful..I don't normally come on Tech forums seeking help, but now I'm desperate. Thanks.
